A terrorist bombing ruins the Kremlin while IMF agent Ethan Hunt is out for an undercover mission somewhere in Moscow. The Russian government identifies the force as "an undeclared act of war," alerting US government to prepare for a secret mission named "ghost protocol", deny the assistance in the entire Impossible Mission Force. Hunt with his team are given rights to escape from the government's custody as an act of a plan to make them operate outside of their agency's command center.
